Link Building to Increase Your Sites Exposure - (1

One of the most important keys to unlock the google search engine and be ranked in the top 10 is backlink building. Building backlinks is what is necessary to show how your site is relevant and of interest to others, it is having another website link to your website. There many ways to do this, some techniques are more powerful than others, some more time consuming than others and some are more powerful to your website than others. Here are a few of the basic methods  on how you can get High Page Rank Backlinks.

All of the Following methods are ways you as the website owner can increase your backlinks. Many of the following methods do not cost a lot of money or any money at all, BUT will take a lot of time and commitment to build a regimented Backlinking program. The KEY with your Link Building is to build your links as naturally as possible and maintain a regular link building program - never go overboard and try to build 4000 links in a couple of days and think you will never have to do that again - this will only hurt your site in the eyes of the search engines. You are far better building 20, 40 to 60  links each week and continue to gradually build the Links to you website over the ongoing life of your website.

Of course these days IF you do not want to spend your time to build your links, it is possible to outsource the whole process, generally at a very affordable rate, be it a single one off appointment (to give you a break) or a regular monthly Link building Program

In this Article we shall touch on some of the basic Link Building methods to get your sites exposure started and a way to start a little cost, to no cost to you. As there are a total of Eight (8) basic means of Link Building for your site, we shall cover a couple of these methods now and follow up this three part series over the coming week.

The most Productive and easiest place to start your Link Building and of course to continue your link building on a planned program is:

1. Directory Submission

Directory Submission is the process of submitting your website to an Internet Directory. Internet Directory's come in all forms, free, paid, reciprocal, bid and specific niche directories but in essence they all serve the purpose of "listing" internet sites in grouped categories of similar niche sites, basically acting as a phone book for internet websites. Of course this brings the question is one better than another - in a word yes - but most directories offer the value of providing a link to your website thus making your website more visable to that directories traffic and the search engines that continually crawl the directories. Web Directories, especially well run and kept directories offer a valuable resource on a wide and varied range of web sites that have been grouped into like categories, so they make it easy for a user that requires, say, a "web site designer" to find 100's of websites offering that service in the one place.  Anyone can submit a website to an internet directory. Here are a few higher Page Rank Directories for example: Airec Online Directory, Adwalker Web Directory and Hostlanes Internet Only Directory.

There are literally thousands of Web Directories available for you to submit your site to build your links, you can start with a few directories and generally they have other directories advertising on their site, or use the directory you visit as the resource it is meant to be and search for a list of directories. example: http://www.Hostlanes.com  then go to "Directories" you will find 100's of directories with description and url's for you to continue your site submissions. You need to keep detailed records when doing your own submissions so you can keep track of the directories that you have submitted to, the directories that have accepted your site and continually build the list of directories so you can continually build your websites links on a consistent program.

With your link Building program you can commence with Free Directories, they are as the name suggests, free for you to submit your site. Paid Directories, require a fee to list your site, these are only beneficial with the high Page Ranked Directories, generally PR5   Directories are hard to find in the Free Directories and as you require a mix of page ranked backlinks it will become worthwhile to submit to some of the high page ranked Paid Directories. Low Page Rank Directories, PR3 and below do NOT warrant paying to submit your site, there are many PR3 and below quality Free Directories available - so I would exclude low page rank Paid Directories and Bid Directories from your lists in the first few years.

Then you have Reciprocal Directories that charge for regular listings but will provide a Free link in exchange for you placing a link to their directory - exchange of Links.

All you need to do for most of the Web Directories is visit the directory click the "submit link" or "Add URL'' button and submit your website information. You can quickly get a “one way” backlink from any of these sites as soon as the editor approves your submission. The problem with a number of Directories is that it can take a lot of time and you are also waiting for an administrator from the directory to approve your website, to which there are no guarantees. To over come this problem, there are directory submission services that will undertake the submitting of your site on  your behalf, and they have lists of Directories that approve submissions in a timely manner, thus if you want to assure yourself of a quicker link build in the early days - a submission service can certainly offer value to your sites growth.

2. Link Exchange

We touched on this type of exchanging links (with reciprocal directories) but the exchanging of links can be done with any website and can be beneficial for both parties meaning both websites will get a backlink to each other. The downside of this is you have to make sure you are exchanging with a website that has not got a poor reputation (spamming for example), has a similar or better page rank and you have to find one that has relevant content to your website. It is also time consuming and a very very slow way of building backlinks to your site. But it is a means of adding extra links to your site that is generally more natural and should form part of any "well planned" link building program.
